A popular sauce is "fettuccine Alfredo," or simply "Alfredo." It is the most popular pasta dish in the world. Was it created in Italy or right here in the United States? Who is Alfredo? The history of “Fettuccine Alfredo” begins in 1907, when Alfredo di Lelio made a plate of buttery fettuccine for his wife. However, he added some Parmigiano Reggiano and tripled the amount of butter typically used on pasta. This dish gained so much popularity that Alfredo opened his own restaurant in 1914, of course, served “Fettuccine Alfredo”. This dish gained a lot of popularity. American actors and celebrities traveled to Alfredo’s place merely to try the famed pasta.
